Product Questions

To clean the keyboard, run tap water over it, then pat dry in a towel. The Touchfire keyboard is completely waterproof.

Touchfire cases can be cleaned with water and dish soap, gently applied with a dish cloth or sponge. Dampen the dish cloth, then mix in a little bit of dish soap on it. Lightly rub the dish cloth on the case, making small circles. The case material is designed to repel dirt and stains, so it shouldn’t take much pressure to clean it. Don’t press hard – that will just abrade the case material.

For difficult stains, like ink or magic marker, use isopropyl rubbing alcohol instead of soap and water. Apply rubbing alcohol liberally to a cloth, then gently rub the cloth on the stain. For oil or grease stains, apply the rubbing alcohol directly to the case, let it set for a minute, then gently blot the case with a soft, absorbent cloth.

The idea is to first dissolve the stain chemically in the soap and water or rubbing alcohol, and then remove the cleaning liquid, which should not take a lot of pressure.

The case can take several hours to dry out if you get it really wet when cleaning, but this will not damage the case.

Yes there are. We made a second video just to show all the case positions. It is right after the “Getting Started” video at .

Yes they do. All Touchfire cases have the ability to turn off the iPad when the cover is closed, and turn the iPad back on when the cover is opened.

Yes. Touchfire attaches to your iPad with magnets. You can leave the Touchfire attached and quickly flip the keyboard section off the screen. Or you can completely remove the keyboard from your iPad and store it in the cover.

If you feel that some of the viewing positions with the Touchfire case are unstable or easy to push over, it is probably because the iPad is resting on the wrong side of the hinge that connects the cover and the back case. Here’s a picture illustrating this:

When the case comes from the factory, the hinge can be a little stiff, especially the fold closest to the iPad. The solution is simple – just work in the hinge crease so that it folds easily. Then the iPad will naturally go into the stable viewing position instead of the unstable position. The setup video at shows you how to work the hinge in.

No they won’t. Touchfire products are designed to withstand Death Valley in the summer and Antarctica in the winter!

No. Touchfire products are made of non-toxic materials. If your baby or dog take a bite out of it, nothing will happen to them.

Note that we do say Touchfire products are not meant to be used by young children, and Touchfire’s cover magnets are small. Until they are attached to an iPad cover, they should not be made available to children or pets.

Ordering Questions

Here is a guide to the different iPad models:

Touchfire makes a Case • Magnetic Mount • Sound Booster • Keyboard combo for each of these iPad models, except for the iPad 1. We have a keyboard only product for the iPad 1.

No problem! Just go ahead and order the right product, then send an email to letting us know what’s going on. Please include your previous order number; we’ll immediately cancel it.

The keyboard does not work with most screen protectors. They are too thick, and therefore cause many keystrokes to be missed. If you need to press really hard in order to register keys, then you probably have a screen protector on.

We tested many screen protectors from Zagg and other brands and found this problem. But we finally found a line of screen protectors from Tech Armor that worked with the Touchfire keyboard! They are quite reasonably priced and enable your iPad to be visible when outside.

We now carry Tech Armor screen protectors for all iPads. You can see them here.

Touchfire cases are extremely versatile. They have over a dozen different typing and viewing positions and integrate perfectly with the Touchfire keyboard, storing it completely out of the way when it’s not in use. They are made out of a unique, grippy material that feels really good and keeps your iPad in your hand and on the table. They are very protective without being bulky and clumsy. And they look great!

Touchfire cases also have unique features not found in any other case:

  • A built-in sound booster that directs the iPad’s sound to the front instead of out the back or to the sides
  • A built-in magnetic mounting system that let’s you attach your iPad to a refrigerator and other metal surfaces

We have studied hundreds of people typing on their iPads with Touchfire, and we have found that the case has a big impact on how well typing works. People want to type on their iPads in many different ways besides on a table – while lying down, while in the back of a taxi, in their lap, in an airplane on the smallest tray table, etc, etc. We designed Touchfire cases to make that possible. We then went the extra mile and added a multitude of different viewing positions, several micro-adjustable. Have you ever been bothered with overhead lights glaring onto your iPad screen? With Touchfire cases that will never be a problem again.

Touchfire cases accomplish all of this without being heavy and bulky. Instead, we use an innovative, patent-pending magnet system and our grippy material to achieve all this versatility.

We want to make it easy for you to try out the full Touchfire experience. So we allow you to return just the case and keep the keyboard if you find that you like your existing case better. We also priced our case + keyboard combos significantly lower than the case alone.

There are thousands of iPad cases available, so we aren’t able to test them all. In general, the Touchfire keyboard attaches magnetically to the surface of the iPad, and rests on the borders around the iPad’s screen. Therefore, any case that extends significantly into the screen border area will not work with the Touchfire keyboard.

This is one of the reasons that we started making iPad cases – they integrate perfectly with the Touchfire keyboard! You can see them here.

The only iPad we don’t make a case for is the original iPad (iPad 1). The Touchfire keyboard for the original iPad works with Apple’s black case and other cases that leave enough room for the keyboard.

Yes you can. We want you to be completely satisfied with your Touchfire purchase. If you decided that you’d like to keep the keyboard and return the case, or keep the case and return the keyboard, we will be happy to do that. Just contact us at and we will send you a return merchandise authorization number (RMA) and return instructions.
